DJs & musicians

Music at a wedding reception is very important as it is something that your guests will remember forever. Music can inspire people to get up and dance and will have to be good in order to do so. DJ’s are a natural choice for a wedding reception for many reasons. They can offer a wider selection of music so there is more chance that any requests from your guests can be met. DJ’s are generally the lower cost option but this doesn’t mean that the music will suffer because of this. They are artists in their own right and can skip between genres and set the right mood at the right time. Your wedding song and your first dance will always be remembered by all and if played by a DJ then at least you will have the original song and not a live bands adaptation which may go horribly wrong and spoil your first dance as man and wife. A DJ may charge differently depending whether your wedding is during the week or on a weekend and also what time of the year it is. You may also have to pay per hour as you may need more time at your wedding reception. The DJ can take your requests up front to make sure that he has everything prepared for the night. They are also very clever at setting the right mood at the right time by generally starting with easy going music to begin with to warm everybody up and then onto more dance music before slowing things down later in the evening for slow dances and romance as the bride and groom prepare to leave. A live band is more suited for the afternoon and maybe played in the background as photographs are being taken etc. If you have a live band for the evening reception then you may find that they won’t know your requests or if they do they may have their own unique way of playing that song that may not be to your taste. If you choose a DJ then there is not so much room for error or mistakes as all the music is original and will set the mood perfectly. A live band will need more breaks and they may have a completely different interpretation of your favorite songs. They both have their pros and cons but I would say a DJ for the evening is always best.
