Stage fright can happen to anyone and even the most famous musicians have been known to have suffered from stage fright at some stage in their career. Stage fright can present itself in many different ways. Some musicians suffer from nausea, nervousness, panic attacks, heart palpitations and dizziness. Some people suffer and some people are fortunate enough not to. There are musicians who have learnt to suppress their feelings of anxiety and can now go out and give a great performance. There are still musicians to this day that are so talented at what they do but still cannot get over their stage fright enough to be able to perform, no matter how hard they try. What a shame it would be to have such a great talent and not be able to do anything about your anxiety enough to be able to show the world how gifted you are. There will be musicians that could be the next great sensation that will remain forever more in the confines of their own homes never to be showcased at all. If you know how to control stage fright and anxiety in a certain way it can actually give the right amount of adrenalin to be able to give the best performance of your life. Anxiety is born from a musician’s negative thoughts; will I perform well? Will the audience hate me? What if I am not good enough? Am I ready for this? Are the other bands better than me? Will something go wrong? Try to stick with an air of confidence; to get to this stage you must already be good enough. You have practiced for hours and hours each day, this is your passion, this is what you are good at and you should share your talent with everyone. You are playing for other people’s pleasure, their enjoyment and to get your music out there. Keep telling yourself that this is what you love and you will be able to quiet your nerves enough to start. Imagine yourself where you practice and ignore everyone in the room until you start to enjoy yourself on stage and start to relax. Look to your other band members for support and know that you are not the only one feeling this way. If you are prepared and have everything covered and things put in place for if anything goes wrong then you can only relax and enjoy what you love to do. Focus and get prospective and look at the bigger picture. You will be great!
