From the moment you are born it is determined whether you will be right or left handed. It is more unusual to be left handed as the majority of people are right handed. This is never usually an issue for people unless they are a musician or wanting to become a musician. When you are learning to play guitar you can do one of two things; you can buy a right handed guitar and change the strings over or you can buy a specially designed left handed guitar which are more expensive. If you are left handed it is sometimes hard to find a left- handed teacher and if you are taught by someone who is right-handed then you have to learn everything and then reverse it. You may think why should you bother to become a guitarist if you are left handed as already things are proving to be twice as hard? Well as a good example of why if you love music and really want to learn guitar you would as a left-handed musician be in good company. You may think why and who? Some of the greatest guitarists have been left handed including the late Jimi Hendrix and also the late Kurt Cobain. Also Sir Paul McCartney has had immense success and he too is a left-handed guitarist. Now with all these three we can easily say they are all well known guitarists which have all had fame and fortune and were and are extremely good guitar players. Even today Jimi Hendrix is still seen as one of the best guitarists of all time! You should always go to a reputable music shop when you are a left-handed guitarist and they can advise you on which guitar is best to buy so that you know you are not being fobbed off with any old guitar. It has to be a guitar that you find easy to use whether you are changing the strings on a right-handed guitar or if you are buying a specific left –handed guitar. If you love music and are determined to put in the hard work and dedication then there is absolutely no reason why you cannot be as good as some of the greatest guitar players in the world. If you want something enough; don’t let the fact that you are left-handed hold you back when you could be the next Jimi Hendrix!!!!
